Do you have time for your finances? We live in a world with the idea that “you can have it all.” This concept has been around for so long, and essentially everyone is engrossed with this idea. You see it everywhere – social media, movies, and at the companies where you work.
Time Pressure
The idea of having it all is an old concept, but today’s choices and expectations have increased exponentially. This isn’t your parents’ generation. Things have changed dramatically. You are probably stressed about trying to cram in more activities into your already overscheduled life – parental responsibilities, work, and the never-ending pain in your back that never seems to go away.
Companies talk about work/life balance but they still expect you to be on your device 24/7 and respond to emails, texts, and messages. Social pressure has increased due to enhanced connectedness. You can read, watch videos, or admire pictures about anyone or anything anywhere in the world.
Taking Care of Your Finances
Given so much information overload and more demands for your time, it is understandable that you do not have bandwidth to make the proper financial decisions. Afterall, you can only drink so much coffee to keep you going.
There’s a lot that goes into making wise financial choices and this takes time, focus, and care. Financial preparation covers a lot of areas – tax planning, estate documents, insurance coverage, retirement, investment management, charitable giving, etc.
Do you like spending your time on financial matters? Do you feel that you are on the right financial track? Would you like to feel more confident you are on the right path?
What to Do About Your Finances and Time
If you feel overwhelmed, pause, close your eyes, and take three deep belly breaths. How do you feel? … Better? … Good. It’s okay to feel this way. If you want to change how you feel about using your time and how you manage your finances, you may consider doing things differently.
Afterall, if you want something you’ve never had before, you’re going to have to do something you’ve never done before.
